Dairy Fresh Foods remains true to its founding as a multi-generation, family run business. In the 1920’s, immigrant patriarch Abraham Must made and peddled bulk fresh curd cheeses of the type then popularly used by commercial customers, such as bakeries, and enjoyed by retail consumers. Furthermore, his youngest of eight children, Meyer “Mike” Must, joined this enterprise early on. Mike passed away in 1997. His wife, Mary, continues working in the business today. Sons Alan and Joel serve as co-presidents, while Alan’s son, Jay, rounds out the family presence.

The company long ago ceased manufacturing cheese in favor of distributing food products, many under its own private label brands. Also, completing its modern day transition, in 1996 the company began trading under the more appropriately descriptive name of Dairy Fresh Foods, Inc. rather than continuing to use the historic corporate name of Detroit City Dairy, Inc.

Our Team

Our customer relations team consists of both headquarter executives and sales representatives local to the customers that we serve.

Buyers and category managers work closely with our suppliers and sales team to optimize product mix and pricing for our customers.

Generally speaking, our team is very experienced and quite stable, with core members of management and other key groups enjoying many years – even decades in some cases – of tenure with our company. Employment opportunities at Dairy Fresh Foods still arise, most often within our warehouse and driver teams.
